Men of Character
A poem By Doug Gempel- May6th 2013
We have soldiers and we have heroes,
we had Thunderbolts shooting at zeroes,
We had men who where brave and bold,
but because of the enemy couldn’t grow old,
for in their plight with victory in sight,
we heard a story of their fateful flight,
being so close to wars end,
but the enemy would not bend,
for in their strife,
they lost their life,
These men of character and men of praise,
Lost a battle in the haze,
as we honor their place in time,
we struggle to find a word that rhymes,
IN our sadness we ponder a day,
when war and hatred go away,
Now, as we pray for World Peace,
we hope all battles will cease.

Your site is very interesting; was especially happy to see a cousin’s picture: Glenna Greene. I did send you an email with more info.
Hi Kathy –Still no replies to my inquiry—I hope you got in touch though. Take care Doug!
